hello my dears! i'm in the middle of my "weekend" (i usually get tuesdays & wednesdays off) and what a weekend it is. bright sunshine, warm weather and a cool sea breeze to top it off... perfect. this morning my etsy model, nicole, came over and we shot some yummy vintage duds for the shop (they'll be listed tomorrow, exciting!) and then we went off on a thrifting adventure! i promised myself i would keep it to things that the dream and i need for our home, as i only have one rack for etsy clothes and at the moment it's pretty full. i ended up with some really great stuff, but i'll post more about my finds in a couple of days.
after the etsy shoot, nicole and i drove to henry's cafe in newcastle (where she used to work) and MAN OH MAN is it adorable! they have a little grocery section with lovely organic goods and the food there is delicious! we sat outside and ate blueberry avocado soup with rose syrup... it was one of the best things i have ever tasted! if you haven't been and you live in the seacoast, you should absolutely go to henry's!
since the weather was so lovely today, i jumped on the opportunity to test out a vintage cotton skirt i re-styled a couple of weeks ago! i bought it at goodwill because of the high waist, deep pockets and gorgeous, full skirt... plus it's navy, and i happen to be very interested in navy blue these days. the only issue was that the skirt was too long for my tastes - it hit right at the center of my shins. i knew when i bought it that i was going to shorten it... and it was a simple hemming job that took about ten minutes. here's a photo of the skirt before:
like i said - cute, but too long. so i took about 4" off the bottom. i was going to add a bow to the front & center but i actually like it better without, as i can belt it. i proudly present the result... and today's outfit:
shirt: thrifted, originally from target
skirt: re-style, thrifted from goodwill
belt: h&m
sweater: old navy
sunglasses: aj morgan
shoes: jessica simpson gali, thrifted
jewelry: bracelet - forever 21, $5 / bow necklace - forever 21, $4 / black crystal skull ring - gift from my aunt mara / double-finger crystal ring - forever 21, $6
before i go, can i just state right here and now that i love love love forever 21 accessories? i have never had bad luck with them, and they are so inexpensive! the clothes are often hit or miss for me (since i'm curvier than their general demographic) but i can always find some seriously delightful goodies in their accessories department.
Gosh, love, you are so beautiful. I love the skirt! And the shoes! And you, of course!
